Amazon has publicly announced its acquisition of Souq.com after merger talks have been finalised.
The rumour mill has been swirling for days about the contracts, and Amazon has officially confirmed the news on its Twitter account.
The dealings were thought to have been upset after Emaar outbid Amazon for the e-commerce site
But it looks as though it was too late, with Amazon acquiring the UAE-based start-up.
The acquisition means UAE residents will have access to Amazon's huge inventory
